SOUTH AMERICAN RIVER DOLPHIN INITIATIVE SARDI
Citizen science at SARDI is based on collaboration with local communities and traditional peoples to collect scientific data. Through participatory methodologies, citizens and scientists work together in environmental management. Prominent examples include the Bufeo App and passive acoustic monitoring (Pamazon), which integrate technology and traditional knowledge, benefiting both river dolphins and local communities.
Local actions to protect dolphins
Each of the 7 SARDI countries works with communities to raise awareness about the importance of protecting dolphins. Raising awareness among the fishing community and tourists is a fundamental part of our work.
